The How-to section is meant to provide a quick overview and quick access to some of the how-to guides I have written and posted to this blog, which include a variety of different guides, from making your own nylon collars to creating a pattern for and making your own dog blankets for cold weather. I hope that you will find them useful and interesting!

- How to make your own Dog Blanket
Includes instructions on creating a pattern fitted to your dog and constructing the blanket, with color photographs illustrating the complete process, as well as a list of items you need to reproduce it at home. Only basic sewing skills are required for this project – if you can sew a straight line and start and end a seam, you can make this. - How to make your own Nylon Collars
Includes step-by-step instructions on making nylon collars from basic materials, including color photographs of the process and a “shopping list” of things you will need. Only basic sewing skills are required for this project, though you will need a sewing machine strong enough to punch through nylon webbing. - How to make a Climbing Rope Leash
Instructions on making a leash using a length of climbing rope in the color and diameter of your choice. This one includes a finishing technique that requires knotwork (detailed instructions are provided) but it can be made without the finishing knotwork as well. - How to make a Crate Mat
Instructions on how to create a simple and washable crate mat from a military sleeping pad. - How to mix your own Odor Remover
A simple recipe for mixing your own odor remover from common household products such as baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. This odor remover works on any odor and can be used either as a spray (instructions provided) or as a paste (same directions with less peroxide). I have successfully used this on everything from skunk-sprayed dogs to smelly hiking boots.
